Yes hello. I’m calling from room 517. Is it possible to book a wake-up call for six thirty am please?

Certainly Sir. Let me just confirm that Mr. Graves. A six thirty wake-up call for room 517. Will there be anything else?

Yes. I need to be at Pudong International airport at eight thirty. What time do you suggest I check out?

Well Mr. Graves, the journey to the airport will take no more than forty minutes, as it won’t be rush hour, so I suggest you check out by seven thirty, just to be on the safe side.

Okay excellent. Could you change my wake-up call to seven am please? Also would you be able to book a taxi for me for seven forty five?

Certainly Sir. That won’t be a problem at all.

Thank you very much for your help.

Yes Sarah, thanks for dropping by. I just wanted to have a word with you. Please have a seat. So, Maggie mentioned that you would like to apply for the production managers position now that Bill is moving on. Is that right?

Well, I’ve definitely been thinking about it.

Okay, well, could you tell me why you think you’d be a good fit for this job? This is your chance to sell yourself!

Well, as assistant production manager I think that I’ve proved myself already, and I know that I have what it takes to do this job. I’m enthusiastic, creative and I think I’m a people person, too.

Well Maggie speaks highly of you. She thinks you are ready to move up, and I agree with her. I’m going to recommend you for the position Sarah, but for now please keep this quiet.

Captain: Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and a warm welcome aboard flight 527. My name is Captain Franks and with me my co-pilot today is Captain Williams. We are both very pleased to have you fly with us today. We have just taken off from Pudong International Airport and will now be climbing to our cruising altitude of 12,000 metres. Weather en route is expected to be sunny and clear with very little turbulence. Journey time to New York will be approximately fifteen hours. The cabin crew will be coming around shortly with drinks and refreshments and a selection of meals. In the meantime please sit back, relax and enjoy the flight, thank you.

Flight attendant: Good afternoon sir, would you like a hot towel?

Mr. Walker: What?

啥？

Flight attendant: I just wondered if you'd like a hot towel before we serve lunch.

Mr. Walker: Well that depends, Miss. What temperature are your towels?

Flight attendant: Excuse me?

Mr. Walker: Oh, it's a simple enough question! Just give me one.

Flight attendant: Certainly, sir, here you are.

Mr. Walker: Geez! What are you trying to do, scald me? This is too hot. Go back and get me a towel heated to precisely 165 degrees Fahrenheit, OK?

Flight Attendant: Of course, I'll see what I can do, one moment.

Mr. Walker: I'll see what I can do.

Flight Attendant: Hello sir, we have a choice of business class meals this afternoon. Would you prefer the vegetarian option, or otherwise we have chicken, beef or fish.

Mr. Walker: No, no no. I ordered the vegan meal. What's with you guys? I don't eat any animal products, got it?

Flight Attendant: I'm so sorry, sir. Let me go get the vegan option for you. Would you like a drink in the meantime?

Mr. Walker: Yes, I'd like a gin martini, shaken with three ice cubes, poured into a chilled glass. Two drops of vermouth, no more no less. served with a lemon twist. Do you think you can handle that?

Flight Attendant: Yes of course. Here you are sir, your gin martinias requested.

Mr. Walker: Hmm. seems adequate

Flight attendant: I'm glad you're satisfied, sir.

Mr. Walker: Actually, Miss, I'm not satisfied. This seat has virtually no leg room. I can hardly squeeze myself in. We're crammed in here like sardines! Also, the seat hardly reclines. I don't call this a business class seat. I want to switch seats.

Flight attendant: Okay. Let me just check your ticket a moment. Hmmm. .....hold on, Mr. Walker. This boarding pass is not for this seat. This is for seat 15C in Economy class.

Mr. Walker: Um, well yeah, you see. I didn't think it would be a problem if I just moved to business class since.......

Rebecca: Yes, that's right. To be honest, the first year was quite tough for me. I was really just treated more like an intern. I didn't have many responsibilities and I found it quite frustrating.

Mr. Parsons: So, what changed?

Rebecca: Well slowly but surely I proved myself, and the new editor liked me so he promoted me to features writer.

Mr. Parsons: Wow, a real step up!

Rebecca: Yes I was responsible for restaurant and food reviews mostly. I spent 3 years in that position, but to be honest it wasn't an area of journalism I wanted to stay in long-term.

Mr. Parsons: I see, so why did you decide to leave finally?

Rebecca: I just felt that the paper couldn't offer me any new opportunites. I really needed a more challenging role, to be honest.

Mr. Ford: Thank you, Jonathan. It really is a pleasure to be here today. It has been three years since I visited Beijing, and it's clear to me that operations here are obviously going from strength to strength. The Alpha brand continues to grow in leaps and bounds in China, and that is certainly down to the hard work of all of you here. So congratulations to all of you.

Mr. Ford: I'd like to start by outlining the key points of my presentation this afternoon and giving you an idea of the topics that will be discussed. The presentation today is divided into five main parts. First of all, I'd like to briefly touch on the background of the new x420 line; how the whole concept has come about, and how the new product fits into our existing brand line. Secondly I'd like to present data on projected sales for the x420. We will then go on to discuss our key rivals in this sector. Then I would like to go on to outline the campaign concept for the x420. Finally, I'm happy to open up the discussion for any questions or points you might have for me
